My verdict

At ₹2,000 this is an Adidas I really like for absolute beginners who want one shoe for walking, gym, occasional jogging and casual wear. It is not for serious runners, and I place it at B-, between B and C.

Pros

  • Plush, comfortable step-in feel
  • Wide, stable platform with side walls
  • Ankle and arch support from tight stitching and OrthoLite insole
  • Great gym shoe
  • Roomy, tall toe box, usual size works
  • Good breathability
  • Many trendy colourways
  • Good value at ₹2,000

Cons

  • Softness disappears when running
  • Low drop loads ankles and calves
  • Exposed outsole limits durability on roads
  • Not for paces under 6:00/km or longer runs
  • Not for overpronators
  • 280 g is on the heavy side

Avoid if

Avoid it if you have weak ankles or calves, past injuries there, overpronate, or run faster than 6:00/km or more than 10 km.

Scores

Ride

6.0/10

The Cloudfoam is plush when walking but feels low and firm-ish when running, with ground feel and a low drop.

Design & Comfort

7.0/10

The wide platform, side walls, ankle stitching and raised arch make it stable and supportive, with a roomy, breathable upper.

Value

7.0/10

At ₹2,000 rather than the ₹5,000 retail price it is a shoe I really like from Adidas, though the exposed outsole will wear on roads.

Full review

Adidas launched 20 to 30 budget models on Flipkart at ₹2,000, and the Aero range all share the same design and Cloudfoam, so any of them will feel the same. I bought four, found no difference, kept this one and returned the rest. The retail price is ₹5,000 to ₹5,500, but I paid ₹2,000. Stepping in, the Cloudfoam feels soft and plush, like a premium shoe. When running I did not feel that softness. It is low stack, maybe 25 mm at the heel and 18 to 20 mm at the forefoot, so it is neither soft nor rock hard and you get ground feel. It is a low-drop shoe, under 6 mm to me, so your ankles and calves take the load. Do not run faster than 6:00/km in it. It is for about 6:30 to 10 to 12:00/km. The platform is wide with side walls, so it lands and takes off stably. There is no guidance system, but the upper is stitched in tightly at the ankle and the elevated OrthoLite insole supports the arch, which helps walking and lifting in the gym. Breathability was fine, the toe box is tall and roomy, and you can take your usual size. It is not a wide-foot shoe, but the stretchy single-layer upper with no overlays may work for wide feet. It suits neutral and high arches and moderate pronation, not overpronation. It weighs 280 g in my UK 8. The outsole rubber covers only parts of the sole and the midfoot is fully exposed, so durability will drop if you run on tar roads. It suits absolute beginners running 1 to 5 km a day, gym use, walking and fashionable casual wear. It is not for runners doing 10 km daily, 15 km long runs or paces under 6:00/km. Avoid it if you have weak ankles or calves or past injuries there. Order it, try it at home, and return it if it does not suit you.
