My verdict
For me the GT-2000 13 is the best lightweight moderate-stability shoe on the market and one of the best shoes under ₹6,000. Beginners and flat-footed runners under 85 kg can buy it with their eyes closed, as long as they size up for the snug forefoot.
Pros
- FF Blast Plus midsole: stable, cushioned, with energy return
- No break-in needed
- Extra heel softness from PureGEL
- Moderate, non-intrusive 3D Guidance support
- Wide, stable platform
- Premium, breathable engineered mesh upper
- Strong heel counter, padding and tongue
- Thick, durable outsole rubber
- Light at 260 g (US 9)
- Excellent value at ₹5,000–6,500
Cons
- Snug, narrow forefoot, needs half a size up
- Thick, not very soft upper mesh
- Short laces, runner's knot came loose
- Below-average traction on wet surfaces
- Not for interval or speed sessions
- Not enough for heavy runners or severe overpronators
Avoid if
Avoid it if you weigh over 85 kg or overpronate heavily, where the Kayano 31 is the better choice.

Scores
Ride
7.5/10
The FF Blast Plus midsole gives a stable ride with energy return when I pick up the pace, plus extra heel softness from the PureGEL, and it needed no break-in.
Design & Comfort
7.0/10
The upper is premium, breathable and supportive with a moderate, non-intrusive guidance system, but the forefoot is narrow enough that I sized up half a size and the laces are too short.
Value
7.5/10
At ₹5,000–6,500 against a ₹15,000 retail price, with a thick, long-lasting outsole, it is one of the best shoes under ₹6,000.

I unboxed the GT-2000 13 and ran 10 km in it for my first impression, and I have now done more than 100 km. The FF Blast Plus midsole is what I like most. It gives a stable ride, and when I pick up the pace I can feel the energy return together with the cushioning. It needed no break-in. The PureGEL in the heel adds a little extra softness for heel strikers. It is not as plush as the Kayano. It works from about 5:00/km to 7:30–8:00/km, and I can take it up to a half marathon. It is not built for interval sessions. The engineered mesh upper is premium, breathable and snug. It is not as plush as the Nimbus knit, because it is made thinner to save weight. The heel padding, heel counter and tongue are all done the way a stability shoe should be. My main complaint is the forefoot. It is snug and narrow, and the mesh is thick and not very soft, so I went half a size up from US 9 to US 9.5 to avoid rubbing and blisters. The laces are short, so I could not tie a runner's knot, and they came loose twice when I tried. The stability is the biggest positive. It is a moderate support shoe, not an aggressive one. The 3D Guidance System and wide platform guide the ankle when it rolls in too far, then let it come back to a natural stride without forcing a correction. Even as a high-arched runner I was comfortable. Traction on a wet outfield was below average. The thick high-abrasion rubber outsole should last a very long time, and many people who bought it on my suggestion have told me they had good experiences. At 260 g in US 9 it suits beginners, neutral runners and mild overpronators who want durability, cushioning and impact protection for easy, recovery and long runs, and for walking. If you are over 85 kg or overpronate heavily, go for the Kayano 31 instead. The retail price is around ₹15,000, but it sells for ₹5,000 to ₹8,000 on the ASICS site, Flipkart, Ajio and Myntra. At that price it is one of the best options in its category. Try it in a store first and order the right size.

Gel-Kayano 33
This became my favourite Kayano of all the ones I have tested, and at ₹17,000 it is one of the safest full marathon shoes in India for most runners. Very heavy runners and severe overpronators who dislike soft foam should stick with the Kayano 32.

StabilityNew Balance
860 v14
The 860v14 is one of the best shoes for flat feet and overpronation, and for me it beat the Kayano with extra bounce and stability. I give it 9 out of 10 overall, and at ₹6,000–9,000 it is a highly recommended buy.

Gel-Kayano 32
The Kayano 32 is top quality in every way and its guidance felt like it laid a flat road for my foot. But for my weight and moderate overpronation it was too much shoe for ₹17,000, and I would buy the GT-2000 14 or 13 instead.
