My verdict

A premium, highly protective max-cushion shoe for beginners, heavy runners and long distances, and one of my top three max-cushion daily trainers. ₹16,000 is too expensive, but at around ₹11,000 I'd pick it over the 26 without a second thought.

Pros

  • Huge impact protection for any body weight
  • Slightly bouncier foam, no sinking feeling
  • Taller toe box and more breathable jacquard upper than the 26
  • Forgiving, premium comfort from the first step
  • Good for long runs up to the full marathon

Cons

  • Heavy at 300 g (UK 8)
  • Expensive at the ₹16,000 launch price
  • Less sock-like plushness than the 26's knit upper
  • Not for fast running
  • Not a stability shoe

Avoid if

Avoid it if you want a light shoe for fast running or need a stability shoe.

Full review

I ran 30 km in the Nimbus 27. It is built for runners who want pure comfort and protection, heavy runners who need durable, high-impact protection, and beginners who want a max-cushion shoe. The midsole is still FF Blast Plus Eco, like the 26, but the formulation has changed and it is slightly bouncier. I didn't get the sinking feeling. I got a bit of propulsion, which I really liked on long runs. The impact protection is huge. You can run a full marathon in it at any body weight and hardly feel the ground. The upper fixes my main complaint with the 25 and 26. They were very snug in the forefoot with no toe box height, so breathability was poor. The 27 has a taller toe box so I can spread my toes, and the knitted, sock-like mesh has been replaced with a jacquard mesh. It breathes better, though it is less cuddly than the old sock-like feel. I prefer it this way. It feels very forgiving, and the premium comfort is obvious from the first step. The weight is the drawback. It is 300 g in my UK 8. That's a bit lighter than the 26, but I'd like it to be 260 to 280 g. The launch price of ₹16,000 is very expensive for India. ASICS discounts within five or six months, though, and it's already about ₹11,000 on Flipkart and other online stores. I'd suggest it for beginners, heavy runners, walking, and 5K to full-marathon running. It is not for fast running, and it is not a stability shoe. If you want something lighter and more fun from ASICS, look at the Novablast 5.
