Gel-Kayano 32
Superb build and guidance, but overkill for a 72 kg moderate overpronator at ₹17,000

- Bought with my own money

My verdict
The Kayano 32 is top quality in every way and its guidance felt like it laid a flat road for my foot. But for my weight and moderate overpronation it was too much shoe for ₹17,000, and I would buy the GT-2000 14 or 13 instead.
Pros
- Best Kayano upper he has tested, softer, thinner, more breathable
- Taller toe box and very wide extra-wide fit
- Very effective 4D Guidance System
- No tiredness after a half marathon
- Plush heel padding, balanced heel clip
- Highly durable AHAR Plus hybrid outsole
- Drop reduced to 8 mm
- Excellent for walking
Cons
- Overkill for lighter, moderate overpronators
- ₹17,000 price, he regrets buying it
- 300 g and bulky for faster paces
- Firm on the first run
- PureGEL feels like a gimmick
Avoid if
Avoid it if you are under about 80–85 kg with only moderate overpronation, or if you want to run faster than 6:00/km.

Scores
Ride
7.0/10
The FF Blast Plus settled to a comfortable softness after a firm first run, and the guidance let me finish a half marathon without feeling tired.
Design & Comfort
9.0/10
The thinner, more breathable upper, taller toe box, wide fit and well-thought-out stability details make it the best Kayano upper I have tested.
Value
8.0/10
The quality is excellent, but at ₹17,000 it was too much shoe for my profile and cheaper GT-2000 and 860 options suit me better.

I paid ₹17,000 for the Kayano 32. I have early-stage plantar fasciitis and moderate overpronation in my right foot, so I wanted to see if it would help. I ran a half marathon and many other runs in it. My UK 8 (27 cm) weighs 300 g. I measured 40 mm at the heel and 32 mm at the forefoot, an 8 mm drop, down from 10 mm. I prefer 8 mm or lower, so I welcome that. The upper is the best I have tested in a Kayano in four or five years. The engineered mesh is soft and plush but thinner than the 31, so it breathes about 10–20% better and the toe box is taller. My extra-wide version fitted perfectly. The tongue is attached on both sides, and an elastic band under the insole wraps the arch. The heel clip is supportive without being aggressive, and the heel padding is very plush. The FF Blast Plus midsole felt firm on my first run, about 6 out of 10 for softness. After a few runs it softened to the Kayano 31's level, about 7 out of 10. It should not be too soft, and it gives the softness you need. The 4D Guidance System works very well. It felt like the shoe was laying a flat road just for me so my foot did not roll in. After the half marathon I did not feel tired. The PureGEL in the heel made no real difference I could feel. The AHAR Plus hybrid outsole is extremely durable. It is also an absolute banger for walking. No shoe fixes your problems. It only supports you, and you still need to see a doctor and do strengthening work. At 72 kg with moderate overpronation, the Kayano 32 was overwhelming for me. I needed two dosas and it gave me five. It is for real heavy overpronators and slow paces of 6:00/km and slower. It feels bulky for faster running. At ₹17,000 I regret buying it. If you are under 80–85 kg and do not need heavy support, get the GT-2000 14 (about ₹12,000, ₹10,000 on offer) or the GT-2000 13 (₹4,000–5,000). The New Balance 860 v14 at about ₹6,000 gives similar protection and is bouncier. The Kayano 33 is due in a week, so the 32 should get much cheaper.

StabilityNew Balance
860 v14
The 860v14 is one of the best shoes for flat feet and overpronation, and for me it beat the Kayano with extra bounce and stability. I give it 9 out of 10 overall, and at ₹6,000–9,000 it is a highly recommended buy.

StabilityASICS
Gel-Kayano 31
After 60 km I could not find a single flaw. At the current discount price, the Kayano 31 is one of the best stability shoes on the market and I give it full marks, though I would not recommend it at retail price.

StabilitySaucony
Tempus 2
The Tempus 2 is the softest stability shoe I have tried, light and versatile, and at ₹7,000 to ₹9,000 one of the best value stability options. Avoid it if you are a neutral runner or have high arches.
