Best Support Shoes for Flat Feet & Overpronation in India
Seven support shoes I have bought, run in and rated, for flat feet and overpronation. For each one: its support system, the runs and paces I use it for, the runner weight I recommend, and how wide it fits.

Softest and responsive support
ASICS
Gel-Kayano 33
Ride 8.0Design & Comfort 9.0Value 8.0
Why it stands out
Soft, bouncy FF Blast Max on a stable base, with ASICS' FluidSupport system. For easy and long runs up to a full marathon at 5:00/km or slower, all-day wear and walking. Recommended up to 90 kg; above that, durability is questionable.
Pros
- Soft, bouncy FF Blast Max top layer on a stable base
- Plush heel and tongue padding
- More breathable than the Kayano 32
Cons
- Durability doubts for runners over 90 kg
- About 20% less structure than the Kayano 32
Avoid if: You overpronate severely or have plantar fasciitis. The 33 is softer and bouncier than the Kayano 32, whose firmer 4D Guidance System suits you better.

Most protective (heavy runners, plantar fasciitis)
New Balance
860 v15
Ride 8.0Design & Comfort 7.0Value 8.0
Why it stands out
The heaviest and most protective shoe in this list, with New Balance's Stability Plane and a rocker. My best pick for plantar fasciitis. For easy and long runs up to a full marathon at 6:00/km or slower, all-day wear and walking, for runners up to 120 kg.
Pros
- One of the most protective max-cushion shoes
- Rocker eased my plantar fasciitis
- Great for flat feet
Cons
- Heavier
- Not responsive
Avoid if: You want a light or responsive shoe, or to run faster than 6:00/km. It runs half a size small.

Lightest max-cushion support for beginners
ASICS
GT-2000 14
Ride 9.0Design & Comfort 9.0Value 9.0
Why it stands out
The lightest shoe in this list, with ASICS' 3D Guidance System and soft, max cushioning. For easy and long runs up to a full marathon at 5:00/km or slower, all-day wear and walking, for runners up to 90 kg.
Pros
- Softer and more responsive than the GT-2000 13
- Support no longer harsh under the arch
- 8 mm drop
Cons
- Not for very high arches
- Not a fast shoe
Avoid if: You have wide feet: it has the narrowest toe box in this list. Or you weigh over 90 kg; pick the Kayano 32 or 860 v15.

Best for beginners with moderate support
adidas
Supernova Solution 3
Ride 8.0Design & Comfort 7.0Value 7.0
Why it stands out
My first choice for beginners and moderate pronators if price is not a problem. Soft and responsive, with the most relaxed, non-intrusive support in this list (adidas' Guide Your Ride system), and the widest shoe here. For easy and long runs up to a full marathon at 5:00/km or slower, all-day wear and walking, for runners up to 90 kg.
Pros
- Soft and responsive
- Most relaxed, non-intrusive support system (Guide Your Ride)
- Widest toe box among my support shoes (75.3 mm)
Cons
- Moderate support may not work for everyone
- Less PEBA and more EVA kills the fun ride after 15 km
Avoid if: You need strong support, because it is moderate, or want the ride to stay fun past 15 km: less PEBA and more EVA dulls it.

Most energetic foam
Nike
Structure Plus
Ride 7.5Design & Comfort 8.0Value 7.0
Why it stands out
The most energetic foam in this list: bouncy ZoomX, with Nike's midfoot support system that helps the ankle without stressing the foot, and a street-wear look. For easy runs at 5:00/km or slower, all-day wear and walking, for runners up to 90 kg.
Pros
- Most energetic foam among my support shoes (ZoomX)
- Max cushion with a modern design that helps the ankle without stressing the foot
- Nike street-wear look
Cons
- Doesn't feel like a proper long-run shoe
- Feels more like an all-day wear and walking shoe
Avoid if: You want it for long runs. Lively as ZoomX is, it feels more like an all-day wear and walking shoe.

Best grip & durability
Puma
ForeverRun Nitro 2
Ride 7.0Design & Comfort 7.0Value 7.0
Why it stands out
World-class Puma grip and the RunGuide support system on a wider platform give a stable, firmer and highly durable ride. For easy and long runs up to a full marathon at 5:00/km or slower, all-day wear, walking and other sports, for runners up to 90 kg.
Pros
- Wider platform with the RunGuide system for a stable, firmer ride
- Highly durable
- World-class Puma grip
Cons
- Nitro foam is not lively and feels less exciting
- For a moderate support shoe, it needs to lose some weight
Avoid if: You want a lively, exciting ride: the Nitro foam here feels flat, and it could be lighter.

Strongest support for severe overpronation
ASICS
Gel-Kayano 32
Ride 7.0Design & Comfort 9.0Value 8.0
Why it stands out
The firmest, most stable support in this list, with ASICS' 4D Guidance System. Next to the 860 v15, my best shoe for heavy runners, walkers and all-day standing with overpronation, and it works for severe overpronation and plantar fasciitis. For easy and long runs up to a full marathon at 6:00/km or slower, for runners up to 120 kg. Kayano 32 or 33? The 33 is softer and bouncier with FF Blast Max, so it may not suit extreme pronators. The 32 does.
Pros
- Best Kayano upper I have tested: softer, thinner, more breathable
- Taller toe box and a very wide extra-wide fit
- Very effective 4D Guidance System
Cons
- Overkill for lighter, moderate overpronators
- ₹17,000, I regret buying it
Avoid if: You are a lighter runner with mild overpronation (it is overkill; try the GT-2000 14), or want to run faster than 6:00/km.
