My verdict
I was disappointed, because the PEBA blend made it plush but not at all energetic, and it lost the versatility of the Triumph 21. For heavy runners, beginners, slow marathoners and walkers it is a durable, premium shoe, and at around ₹8,000 you can buy it without thinking.
Pros
- Premium step-in feel and materials
- Smooth and safe at a steady, slow marathon pace
- Very durable outsole, Triumph shoes last over 1,000 km
- Stable neutral shoe for heavy runners and beginners
- One of the best walking shoes
- Starting to soften and bounce a little after 40 km
Cons
- No energy return at all despite the PEBA blend
- Lost the versatility of the Triumph 21
- Thick upper not breathable enough for Indian weather
- Expensive at about ₹20,000
- Flipkart listings may be fake
Avoid if
Avoid it if you want fast running, high breathability or a bouncy, fun shoe like the Novablast or Vomero Plus.

Ride
6.0/10
The PWRRUN+ and PEBA blend feels plush and carries you smoothly at steady slow paces, but it has no energy at all, which disappointed me.
Design & Comfort
8.5/10
Everything apart from the midsole is 10 out of 10 with a premium step-in feel, except that the thick, cosy upper is not breathable enough for Indian weather.
Value
6.5/10
At about ₹20,000 it is very expensive, but at around ₹8,000 it is worth buying for its durability if you fit the profile.

Full review
The Triumph 21 is one of my all-time favourite shoes, so I bought the Triumph 22 with a lot of excitement. The midsole now blends PWRRUN+ with PEBA, the same blend Saucony uses in the Endorphin Speed. To be frank, I was disappointed. Saucony has turned the Triumph into a max-cushion, recovery-type shoe. That is not wrong in itself, since every brand is doing it. But the foam gives a plush feeling, not very soft like the Nimbus or the More v5 and v6, and it has no energy at all. I expected max cushioning with a lot of energy, and it is not there. At a steady 7:00 to 10:00/km marathon pace it will carry you smoothly and safely, even without the energy return. After 40 km I started to feel a little more softness and bounce, so I expect it to become a bit more fun after 100 km, though not like the 21. Everything else is premium. You feel it the moment you step in, which only a few shoes like the Vomero Plus give me. Apart from the midsole, everything in it is 10 out of 10 for me. The one other issue is the upper. It is thick and cosy, designed for a cooler climate, and should have been more breathable for our weather. The outsole is very durable as always, and Triumph shoes last over 1,000 km. It is also one of the best walking shoes. It suits heavy runners, beginners who need a stable neutral shoe, slow runners who want a highly cushioned, plush and durable shoe for the full marathon, and people in cooler climates. If you want fast running, high breathability, or the fun of a Novablast or the springiness of a Vomero Plus, it is not there. It lists at $170, which is about ₹20,000 in India after tax. I bought it at a discount. With the 23 out for six or seven months and the 24 coming, the 22 should be on heavy offer. In India I only see it on Flipkart, and I doubt those are original, because a Triumph 20 and 21 I bought from the same seller were fake. Outside India, if you get it for ₹8,000, go for it.

Superblast 3
If money is no issue and you want one shoe that makes you love running, the Superblast 3 is the one I recommend. No other shoe this year gave me this much fun, though the soft exposed midsole wears quickly.

Max cushionNike
Vomero Plus
One of my top three max-cushion daily trainers of 2025; I couldn't find any problem with it for its purpose. It's expensive at ₹16,000, and it suits runners at 5 to 6 min/km, not slow, heavy or unstable runners.

MagMax Nitro
The MagMax is one of the most comfortable shoes I tested this year and a protective max-cushion shoe for slow, easy running, scoring 38/50. If you get it for ₹12,000, close your eyes and buy it.
