My verdict

If you want Novablast-style comfort with more stability and durability, consider the 1080 v14; it will be one of the top daily trainers of 2025. Buy it with a 10 to 20% offer, not at full price.

Pros

  • Premium mesh upper you feel at step-in
  • Soft and comfortable but firmer and more versatile than before
  • Stable thanks to the wider platform
  • Thick rubber outsole with full coverage, no wear after 100 km
  • Likely more durable than the Novablast
  • Handles 4:00/km to slow runs and up to full marathon

Cons

  • Heavy at 300 g (US 9)
  • Breathability is limited
  • Expensive at ₹14,000 to ₹16,000
  • Mostly offline in India

Avoid if

Skip it at full retail price; wait for a 10 to 20% offer.

Ride

7.5/10

Soft and comfortable at slow paces, with slightly firmer foam that adds energy and versatility from 4:00/km, though it is not a super trainer.

Design & Comfort

9.0/10

Premium step-in feel and a wide, stable platform, held back by weight (300 g) and limited breathability.

Value

8.0/10

Very durable outsole with no wear after 100 km, but at ₹14,000 to ₹16,000 it is only worth it with a 10 to 20% offer.

Full review

This is my 100 km review. I ran half marathon, 10K and 30 km runs at different paces and had no problems anywhere. I bought it expecting a more stable alternative to the Novablast with similar character, and it delivered that. I did not expect super trainer energy return, nor the slow, sluggish feel of the More v5 and v6. The midsole is Fresh Foam X, basically EVA, but New Balance keeps tuning it, and I think they make the softest foam in the industry. The last version was so soft that it became popular for casual wear more than running. This version is slightly firmer, which makes it versatile. You can run anywhere from 4:00/km to as slow as you like. Slow, you feel the soft comfort. Faster, the firmer foam gives a bit of energy. I really liked that. You can use it for a full marathon. The upper is a high-quality premium mesh, and you feel the quality the moment you step in. Breathability is an issue, but not as bad as the Nike Vomero, and it is manageable. It is a neutral shoe, not a stability shoe, but the wider platform and firmer foam mean you do not get the slight instability of the Novablast. My first negative is weight: 300 g in my US 9. For a Novablast competitor I expected 250 to 260 g. The outsole surprised me most. The last version's big complaint was partial rubber coverage and heavy wear. This one has thick rubber covering the outsole properly, and after 100 km I saw no wear. I think it will outlast the Novablast, and I have not heard complaints about the 1080 foam going flat. It suits neutral beginners who want a soft, comfortable, stable shoe, and intermediate runners training at 4:00 to 6:00/km for half and full marathons. Seasoned marathoners can use it as a recovery shoe. New Balance is mostly offline in India, and I think it sells for around ₹14,000 to ₹16,000. Go for it with a 10 to 20% offer, but not at the retail price.
