| Pros | Most fun shoe of the year · Extremely soft FF Leap + FF Blast Plus midsole · Fit true to size at UK 8, snug and secure · Plush woven upper with gusseted tongue · Light at 230 g for a 46/38 mm stack · Stability improved once I'd done a few runs | Balanced softness with energy return at any pace · Same pep after 500 km · Outsole shows no wear after 500 km, great wet and dry traction · Wide forefoot and spacious toe box · True to size · Fully attached gusseted tongue and secure heel counter · One shoe for easy runs to the full marathon |
| Cons | Exposed midsole wears and cracks quickly · Outsole rubber wears fast · Narrower forefoot than Superblast 2 · Expensive at ₹22,000–23,000, rarely discounted · Can feel clunky for lighter runners · Less energetic than the Megablast | Extra lacing eyelet causes discomfort if laced too tight · Breathability drops above 25 km, more so in hot weather · High stack may feel unstable for absolute beginners · Online only, in limited numbers · Price could come down further |
| Avoid if | Avoid it if you have ankle pronation and need a stability shoe, or if you have wide feet and can't size up or get the wide version. | Avoid it if you are an absolute beginner, since the high stack can feel unstable; I would pick the Ride 17 instead. |
My verdicts
ASICS
Superblast 3
If money is no issue and you want one shoe that makes you love running, the Superblast 3 is the one I recommend. No other shoe this year gave me this much fun, though the soft exposed midsole wears quickly.
Avoid if: Avoid it if you have ankle pronation and need a stability shoe, or if you have wide feet and can't size up or get the wide version.

After 500 km it still has the same pep, and I expect another 500 km from it. At ₹7,000 to ₹9,000 it is real value for money for anyone running six months or more who wants one non-plated shoe for everything up to the full marathon.
Avoid if: Avoid it if you are an absolute beginner, since the high stack can feel unstable; I would pick the Ride 17 instead.
