ASICS Megablast vs ASICS Superblast 3
On paper, compared with the ASICS Megablast, the ASICS Superblast 3 is 10 g heavier, 1.8 mm less drop, ₹2,000 cheaper.
My take
Megablast is the pinnacle of high-performance shoes, and Superblast 3 is Novablast 5 on steroids and my favourite daily trainer. Neither is a 400 m speed shoe.

| Pros | Explosive, springy FF Turbo Squared ride · Fastest and easiest 10K in months · Light at 220 g for its stack · Soft, breathable, durable woven upper · Gusseted tongue and secure heel · Heel padding works well · ASICSGRIP outsole rated for 1,000 km · One shoe for training, long runs and races | Most fun shoe of the year · Extremely soft FF Leap + FF Blast Plus midsole · Fit true to size at UK 8, snug and secure · Plush woven upper with gusseted tongue · Light at 230 g for a 46/38 mm stack · Stability improved once I'd done a few runs |
| Cons | ₹23,000–24,000 price · Narrower than the Superblast 2 and 3 · Not for beginners · Not for sprinting · Overkill for slower runners | Exposed midsole wears and cracks quickly · Outsole rubber wears fast · Narrower forefoot than Superblast 2 · Expensive at ₹22,000–23,000, rarely discounted · Can feel clunky for lighter runners · Less energetic than the Megablast |
| Avoid if | Avoid it if you are a beginner, run slower than about 5:00/km, or cannot comfortably spend ₹24,000. | Avoid it if you have ankle pronation and need a stability shoe, or if you have wide feet and can't size up or get the wide version. |
My verdicts
ASICS
Megablast
The Megablast is one of the best running shoes ever, with an explosive, springy FF Turbo Squared ride I have never felt before. It is only worth ₹23,000–24,000 if you run 2:30–5:00/km and can spare the money.
Avoid if: Avoid it if you are a beginner, run slower than about 5:00/km, or cannot comfortably spend ₹24,000.

Superblast 3
If money is no issue and you want one shoe that makes you love running, the Superblast 3 is the one I recommend. No other shoe this year gave me this much fun, though the soft exposed midsole wears quickly.
Avoid if: Avoid it if you have ankle pronation and need a stability shoe, or if you have wide feet and can't size up or get the wide version.
