| Pros | Very snappy for track workouts · Foam enough for 10 km and impact-protective · Slightly softer than the previous version · Works for races up to 5 km · Excellent value at ₹4,000 | Highly energetic FF Blast Plus foam · Very light at 220 g · Light, breathable upper · Good lacing and a decent heel counter · Durable, high-traction outsole · Outstanding value at ₹6,000 or less |
| Cons | Not as bouncy or energetic as he hoped · Very narrow, no wide version · No stability · Outsole may wear fast on roads, traction drops after about 100 km · Not a daily trainer | Low stability for weak or unstable ankles · Snug, narrow fit with limited toe box space · Aggressive rocker for fast running, not for absolute beginners |
| Avoid if | Avoid it if you want a daily trainer, run slowly, are a heavy runner or a beginner, have wide feet or have ankle pain. | Avoid it, or try it in a store first, if you are a beginner, overpronate, need ankle stability, have narrow-fit issues or dislike rockers. |
My verdicts
ASICS
Hyper Speed 5
At around ₹4,000, the Hyper Speed 5 is one of the best track workout shoes on the market right now and fully delivers on its purpose. My only disappointment is that it is not more bouncy or energetic.
Avoid if: Avoid it if you want a daily trainer, run slowly, are a heavy runner or a beginner, have wide feet or have ankle pain.

Noosa Tri 16
The Noosa Tri 16 is the most underrated ASICS shoe and my best value-for-money shoe of 2025; at the ₹6,000 I paid, I see no negatives. It suits fast runners with strong, stable ankles, not absolute beginners.
Avoid if: Avoid it, or try it in a store first, if you are a beginner, overpronate, need ankle stability, have narrow-fit issues or dislike rockers.
