| Pros | Premium-feeling materials for the price · Moderate, non-intrusive 3D Guidance support · Wide platform for a stable ride · Smooth heel-to-toe transition · Amazing step-in comfort, superb walking shoe | Softer and more responsive than the GT-2000 13 · Support no longer harsh under the arch · 8 mm drop · Soft, breathable upper · Up to 1,000 km of durability |
| Cons | Midsole lacks impact protection, ankles and calves worked extra · Not enough for excessive overpronation · Very flexible, durability doubtful · Not worth the retail price | Not for very high arches · Not a fast shoe · Lighter runners only (under ~85 kg) |
| Avoid if | You are a serious runner wanting a ₹5,000 shoe that lasts 800 km, or you overpronate excessively. | You have very high arches (pick a soft max-cushion neutral shoe such as the New Balance More v6 or 1080v14), you weigh over about 85 kg (pick the Kayano), or you want a fast shoe. |
My verdicts
ASICS
GT-1000 13
The GT-1000 13 does its job for light, beginner runners who slightly overpronate, and it is a great walking shoe, but the midsole did not protect me well. I would not buy it at retail, only at around ₹4,000–4,500.
Avoid if: You are a serious runner wanting a ₹5,000 shoe that lasts 800 km, or you overpronate excessively.

GT-2000 14
My favourite GT-2000 of the five-plus I have tested: stable without being harsh, comfortable from walking to a full marathon, and an easy buy on sale.
Avoid if: You have very high arches (pick a soft max-cushion neutral shoe such as the New Balance More v6 or 1080v14), you weigh over about 85 kg (pick the Kayano), or you want a fast shoe.
