| Pros | Huge impact protection for any body weight · Slightly bouncier foam, no sinking feeling · Taller toe box and more breathable jacquard upper than the 26 · Forgiving, premium comfort from the first step · Good for long runs up to the full marathon | Most fun shoe of the year · Extremely soft FF Leap + FF Blast Plus midsole · Fit true to size at UK 8, snug and secure · Plush woven upper with gusseted tongue · Light at 230 g for a 46/38 mm stack · Stability improved once I'd done a few runs |
| Cons | Heavy at 300 g (UK 8) · Expensive at the ₹16,000 launch price · Less sock-like plushness than the 26's knit upper · Not for fast running · Not a stability shoe | Exposed midsole wears and cracks quickly · Outsole rubber wears fast · Narrower forefoot than Superblast 2 · Expensive at ₹22,000–23,000, rarely discounted · Can feel clunky for lighter runners · Less energetic than the Megablast |
| Avoid if | Avoid it if you want a light shoe for fast running or need a stability shoe. | Avoid it if you have ankle pronation and need a stability shoe, or if you have wide feet and can't size up or get the wide version. |
My verdicts
ASICS
Gel-Nimbus 27
A premium, highly protective max-cushion shoe for beginners, heavy runners and long distances, and one of my top three max-cushion daily trainers. ₹16,000 is too expensive, but at around ₹11,000 I'd pick it over the 26 without a second thought.
Avoid if: Avoid it if you want a light shoe for fast running or need a stability shoe.

Superblast 3
If money is no issue and you want one shoe that makes you love running, the Superblast 3 is the one I recommend. No other shoe this year gave me this much fun, though the soft exposed midsole wears quickly.
Avoid if: Avoid it if you have ankle pronation and need a stability shoe, or if you have wide feet and can't size up or get the wide version.
